If you plan on fishing the banks at Round Valley I suggest going into the park side, the banks drop off quickly there. Saw one guy launching a kayak and he told me Parks Dept. doesn't care anymore because the water is so low, that side closes at 4pm. One shore fisherman had one for the table.
Saw 3 boats launch at the main side, watch out for the mud !!

i can't help but think, it'd be pretty cool if rvr froze this year for ice fishing!

The water is so low you can pick up once-used-to-be snagged tackle and save them for yourself.

Found a paintless crankbait, jigs, and lods of lead and line

Mostly trash but some things I can use.

Is it going to get any lower? Who knows we might be able to salvage boats if so.

I collected a lot of lures from SR that past couple of weeks. I even found a huge anchor that someone had to cut free. ( I left the anchor there because I don't need a huge anchor.)
The lures are all still good except some of them have rusted out hooks. I even found a big umbrella rig. I think I need to invest in some sort of split-ring pliers to change out the hooks to make the lures better.

Heard a radio news report on RV last week. They said it was at 64% pool, the lowest it has ever been since it was filled. They expect that it may drop to as low as 50% by next spring. If it gets that low it may take a couple of years for it to get back to normal.

that's a lot of fish packed into much less space...that's probably stressing the hell out of them. i think some decent catches still coming out of there recently though so i guess the fish are adjusting.

Did you pick up any trash or just lures ?

The lakers and rainbows have completely taken over. This is happening all over in Merril Creek, and the lakes they put salmon in are also being infested with these stupid little bows. brown trout are by far the best species of trout and they stopped stocking them because they let a bird in their hatchery and it shat in the breeding tank. Its really sad to see the big browns in the lakes die out. At least we have em in the rivers.

Yes stuff like empty dough bait jars and packaging for hooks.

I could have grabbed a lot more but just took what I felt like (I could reuse the jars someway for example)

Maybe next time I'll bring a trash bag but again I'm already carrying a lot. Those bottles weight up after a while. Even I'm a backpack.

I'll be there later today actually

years ago I was vertical jigging for lakers and I caught a 13 pound laker with a 6 inch laker in its throat...

Update- Had business in Lebanon today (11/18) so I swung by RVR to check out conditions. Banks are muddy but there were people fishing from shore and I watched a boat pull out from the new temporary ramp ok.

RVTA-

"Due to the extreme low water at Round Valley, with no immediate relief in sight, the Trophy Trout Committee is suspending the 2017 Trophy Trout stocking. We will still accept donations and will resume stocking in 2018. For all those that donate $50 or more through March 2017, you will be entered into a special drawing for a chartered trip to Lake Ontario with Captain Pete Lahosky on his Prime Time for a 4 man, 6 hr trip!"

New Jersey Water Authority plans on contracting work on the dam in a couple of years. RVR has to go down another 11 feet or so before they can do that. We're looking at about five years before full pool again. That is, if the drought lifts.

That's disappointing news.

how is spruce run the same ? Thanks
You better have a 4x4 and a lighter boat if you wanna try launching. Driving up 31 can see the launch across the lake and saw a flat bed pulling a truck out yesterday afternoon
