So after missing the MnG on Sat I just had to get out on Sunday. Hit the Lamington River about 5 minutes from the house for about 3 hours. Good news is that the Smallies are still out there and willing to play a bit. No big ones today but landed 8 fish and missed a bunch...mostly too fast on the hook set. Needed to let them have it a bit as they seemed to not be aggressively taking the bait. Tried a few different lures but anything with a treble or not weedless was just catching leaves...those were plentiful. The weightless t rigged 4 inch Senkos and Yum Dingers were the choice this day. Green Pumpkin and a Bream color did the best. Deeper holes with good water flow (not too fast though) were the spots....classic pattern basically. Beautiful afternoon on crystal clear water. Pics of one of them as proof.

it's nice to have nice smallmouth fishin five minutes from your house.nice fish. looks like the smallmouth are doing well there.did you fish any deep pools or the faster water? some pools have faster water making differnt eddys in them and others are side to side steady flow water.i usually find smallmouth in the eddys of deeper fast pools.

Funny you say that. I fish those types of eddys all the time and have very little success. I can never believe it when I don't get a fish out of an eddy like that so I keep trying and keep not catching. HA! Most fish I caught were from the deeper pools with steady flow but not too fast...which is relative in this section as deep means 3 to 4 feet. Others were in like a foot deep over flat shale type rock bottom again steady flow but not really fast...those were definitely the smaller guys. Hope that makes sense.
