Got out of work a little earlier than expected so i headed over to where we saw a bigger fish yesterday in hopes of getting it to bite. Instead i fooled the same nice fish JDtuna got yesterday  confirmed it with the markings looking at both pics haha. Couldn't get his big mama to hit though with a few different lures. might have to head back with a fly rod.

This is def a fish you'd want to catch if you're only going to get one in a quick 1.5 hour trip.

i guess not all wild/holdover trout are that smart (or maybe aggression just takes over sometimes) haha, it was a different lure on each day though in the fish's defense! hahah

there is a bigger one in there and we are going to get it! I want to go after it with my fly rod but although i can use it at like a novice level I'm not at all comfortable fighting a big fish with it and i always just pick up my ul spinner and go.

not sure how you practice fighting bigger fish on the fly rod without getting frustrated about losing fish after fish while making mistakes but i guess that's what i'll have to do one of these days. maybe get on a small river smbass spot and just go to town on them. I feel like i should make myself like fly fishing more so i can get good at it when i need it.

.

Catch-and-release works!

Can you imagine what the fish was thinking. He was probably thinking, "I recognize the marking on his hat. This is the same angler that was fishing here the other day. I can't believe he fooled me again!".

Never really saw a difference in fighting a fish on the fly rod vs spinning rod. If the fish is big and is holding in current and won't budge. I'll usually put my rod tip down stream and to the side. I heard the fly line dragging in the water causes more pressure on the fish and then fish should move. The more you use a fly rod the better you'll get it takes a little practice .
