I wonder how badly it stresses the fish out when they pump out to half pool like it is. That's crazy low...

Sorry about all of the attachments. I had to resize them so they would upload. This truck was hauling in a small tin boat way, way down past the ramp. There was a deeper drop right where his trailer wheels were in the water. Launching looks like it's getting more and more dangerous. Needless to say, the Run hardly has enough water for migrating waterfowl. It's a good time, however, to get some GPS numbers on any structure if you don't have them. The high pieces are definitely exposed as are the drops and shoreline rocks. There were a few guys fishing from shore in deep spots that should only be accessible by boat.

Only took the State 6 years to declare a DROUGHT WARNING !

All the steams and lakes are extremely low in Hunterdon. This trend started a few years ago. Not good!

The trout "brooks" are sure to see a fish reproduction reduction. There is nothing anyone can do. Those small mountain brooks that support natural trout reproduction will certainly be affected unless their cfps flow rates are controlled by natural springs.......maybe. The Black River/Lamington as it comes out of Hacklebarny State Park is a trickle. The upper South Branch can hardly be classified as a river. I saw fishermen standing knee-deep in water on several streams that ordinarily would be up to their waists. This might be a consideration to those of you who fish the small wild trout waters.........leave them alone for awhile. There's enough stress on the fish right now.

As for Spruce Run........the air and water temps are getting cooler so that's good ; but how will the current water level affect the future fishing?

Wow - that's bad. I was there about two weeks ago and saw that.

The reservoir hasn't been full in so long, the banks are reverting to verdant fields of weeds.

Click on this link and then click on Spruce Run. The first picture I posted of the boat passing through a cut between two "islands" is south of the boat rental dock. They are off from the rip rap at the dam. Those two islands are supposed to be 30' deep. You'll see them on the depth chart.

We will see what happens in the spring I don't think either Spruce or the Valley will be back to full pool for several years the way its going. IMO it's def gonna affect the fisheries!
