Quickie River Trip, Grab Some......... Whiskers

Hit my favorite local spot the other day. Low water but fish were hungry!! Couple kitties and a couple better than average river smallies!! Great 2 hours of steady action.....

Thanks all!! Haven't been there in a while and it didn't disappoint.

Chrisper, nah, I bought a few shiners along for the cat holes. Smallies were half on spinners, half on shiners. Channels were all on shiners. Although I hear it's not all that uncommon, I've still never caught a catfish on a lure.......

I get a bunch each year on big plugs in the river. Actually had a 9 lb flathead take a 6" plug last summer. They're predators!

Sweet bag, G. I get small ones every now and then on jig/grub and some feisty little ones on roostertails in the streams, but nothing large on lures and all as bycatch on the targeted fish. I like the colors on the smallies there. Healthy fish.

very nice smallmouths you got there,well done you had both bases covered, if no love on lures you might get bit on bait.it's getting to be like fish in a barrel fishin with some of the rivers running so low.i know that the rockaway is low.
