Had a change of plans early saturday morning so i switched up gear and headed out. First thing in the morning set out the rapala and it gets whacked immediately...a real nice rainbow. Haven't eaten fish in awhile but let it go (I'll get some saltwater fish next weekend :D)
Then i started thinking "crap, i hope setting a troll rod and getting a fish immediately isn't the same as catching a fish on your first cast..." worked the area over and nailed another big pickerel this time on the green goblin fly. Dumped this one quickly with the pliers, no net, no pic this time but it looked all of 24-25" and fairly girthy though not near as fat as the last time.
Shortly after, just as the sun peeked over the trees a nice smallie choked on my green goblin fly (i think that means he liked it haha) I thought "alright this is going to be a nice day!" but that big bright sun had other plans i guess! Not a cloud in the sky, felt like a damn summer day... and only one more fish hooked for the rest of the day (an average largie lost a few feet from the boat). That was 7 hours with 1 good....not bad i'll take it.
Now today was a different story, went out for striped ghosts apparently. they were around, but we tried 4 different spots and had 2 small fish (one trolling and one on bait) and saw/heard of a grand total of 3 other ones caught. And then once the wind picked up my boat didn't even belong out there, but i'm a stubborn prick so i just kept fishing to no avail. 7 hours out there nothing good.
the good news is i had so much extra bait, i made a delicious stew when i got home and ate it in my back yard wearing nothing but denim overalls while i watched two pigs mating in a mud puddle.
