We were supposed to get a direct hit here in Melbourne with wind gusts to 140 mph. I did not happen and we are all thankful. Nortern florida got hit worse. We evacuated and came home to a lot of debris but no real damage. Sandy kicked our butt in Jersey and i thought it was going to happen again. The only thing i worry about is this-We did not get the category 4 but what about next time? Why should we evacuate they were wrong last time. This could be devastating if people stay. Just saying.

I agree. We got real lucky! A last minute jog to the north saved us all from a devastating blow. 50 miles to the west would have seen possible loss of life.

I lost power for 3-4 days but was lucky enough to have brought my generator from jersey.

Glad you made it through safety

Exactly, as was said in the past---"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" or "better safe than sorry" or dead!! We all know weather predicting is not an exact science---don't even complain when forecasters issue warnings & Mother Nature changes her mind and spares you & yours...maybe next time, she won't!! You'll know when it happens---or doesn't!!!! Don't be saying "I should have.....".
Glad you escaped major damages...
