The smallies didn't seem to want to cooperate friday but a few larries came out to play including one big'un. On a pretty funny side note, while i was landing the fish i snagged my fly jigging rig and when i turned the boat to get the lines going the same way to not tangle them, the line was so tight i guess it yanked the holder and rod off the boat.

so i half jumped in with my upper body to grab it and ended up dunking the entire back of the jon boat (pretty lucky i didn't flip it although i'm very impressed the tin can jon boat recovered back to up right so easily and i only had to bail out about a half foot of water :o) ended up hitting my face on the side and busting my lip only to come up with just the rod holder and no rod...luckily though as i was cursing and hand lining in the planer board line the rod had somehow tangled in that line and was attached to it so i got it back hahaha :D alls well that ends well! lesson learned, only put the rod holders on the lipped edges!

Did the walleye contest on cong with a friend and it was pretty un-entertaining to say the least. We caught just 2 walleye in about 27 hours of straight fishing targeting them...trying to avoid hybrids , catching crappie to stay awake. slow fishing, tried all kinds of jigs only got nipped probably from panfish and marked bigger fish wouldn't take the fresh live herring (which by the way from Dow's lasts FOREVER on the hook swimming the whole time! great bait) One of my buddy's fish was pretty nice though 5lbs 11oz, had a chance at 2nd or 3rd maybe, we'll see.

Heard the Eye contest was super slow unfortunately! That's a bummer! At least you got some fish to bite though! Nice piggy LM dude! Be careful out there in that tin can! Crazy stuff!:D

Glad you didn't sink her, but if you did, I'd be asking for gps coordinates for the new piece of bottom structure :p.

you got lucky that they got tangled up at least you got your rig back.i lost a penn ugly stick combo in upper greenwood lake while trolling, got hung on the bottom and overboard it went rod holder and all .we dragged a anchor line for an hour hoping to get it back to no avail oh well.nice larry indeed you got there.i didn't do so well in the kdc contest either, only managed to get a 19" slime dart, 1 decent perch and 5 sunnies.hope for better results next time:cool:

I think it's time to consider changing the seasons in which the contests are held. A striper contest at this time would be awesome and a walleye contest in a few weeks. Another walleye contest late spring maybe.
