One year it's a Herring bite! One year it's a liver bite! One year it's a Hybrid M-N-G with a bunch of Walleye coming to the nets! What will this year bring? Can't wait to find out..... "IN!!!!!":D

Just save some to toss in the pan with some onions :p Mid-October, the hotdog chunk under a bobber bite should be real good, too! I missed last year's, really hoping to be able to make it this time.

can i just say if you're going to use globby goo aka chick liber aka sloppy bloody mess as bait, consider using a fairly large in-line circle hook or at least holding the rod in your hand so you can set the hook immediately (if you plan on releasing the fish) they will swallow that stuff on impact most of the time!

they'll bite one day and not the next...i.e. yesterday vs today...I saw a grand total of 5 hybrids caught in 4 different spots and none of them were big. I hope you guys hit them on the right day i'm not really sure what shuts them off like that sometimes.
Heads up on the dows boat rentals, their anchors are little cylinders of concrete with not much line...if it's windy you may have trouble holding. Not sure if they'll let you bring your own anchor or at least extra line, but you might want to consider asking.

Less than a week away!!!! GET READY!!!!!! Prepare your stuff now cause when your on the water and the bites on there's no time to be playing with rigs or the boat! Make sure your anchor is sufficent like Chris says and don't forget your safety equipment and to dress properly because it will be chilly in the morning and warm up as the day goes on! Bring plenty of stuff eat and drink as well as anything to keep you warm as you wait for the schools to pass by and hook up. This is a bait and wait deal so there will be plenty of time between bites to shoot the breeze and shovel out some smack!!!! Gonna be a good time. ALWAYS IS so don't make excuses here's your chance!!!!!! LET"S DO THIS!

Couple questions:
1. Do the rentals at Dow's come with nets, or should I bring mine?
2. I have a floating minnow bucket like one of these: http://www.easternmarine.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5bfa95ea1af0d40a27aa17fa3cebce05/1/8/1826_st.jpg , not sure how well the herring would survive in it. Is it worth bringing and trying, or don't bother and just go with livers and/or artificial?
3. What size hooks do you recommend...more specific, what size circle hooks for livers, what size circle hooks for herring, and what other hook for herring (baitholder or other)?
 Thanks in advance :)

The bigger the bucket the better. Keep the water cold. Freeze some water bottles. Get a lid to keep splashing down. Those orange Home Depot buckets work well.
Inline circle hooks are hard to find none of the local shops have them.everyone has offset hooks. I found these at Walmart. Boonton is out of them.

We had the same wind at this M-N-G 2 years ago! Lots of boats showed up but the majority did not launch. Dale and Jeremy went out. I went out with Anthony and Jimmy on the Lund! We actually caught some fish that year but most were the wrong species! Launching a skiff at LH with the kind of wind there calling for is not recommended but I'm going to wait and see what happens.

I don't have a problem goin out but anyone who is inexperienced in handling a boat in those conditions may wanna pass on this one. It's not worth risking a life or damage to catch a few fish. Not feeling to good about the bite either, near record warm temps then dropping drastically and wind howling will prob have their lips locked so let's see what develops and plan from there. Possibly reschedule for early november?

We had the same wind at this M-N-G 2 years ago! Lots of boats showed up but the majority did not launch. Dale and Jeremy went out. I went out with Anthony and Jimmy on the Lund! We actually caught some fish that year but most were the wrong species! Launching a skiff at LH with the kind of wind there calling for is not recommended but I'm going to wait and see what happens.
yeah...I showed up with my big boat (21' hardtop cuddy), didn't even bother to launch....the wind would have made it a nightmare to get the boat back on the trailer.

I WILL SET MY ALARM, GET UP & LET THE DOG OUT. IF THE WIND IS BLOWING HARD ENOUGH WHEREAS I DO NOT HEAR MY FART I WILL GO BACK TO BED & PLACE MY COLD FEET IN THE BACK OF MY WIVE'S KNEES JUST TO LET KNOW I MISSED HER.
LH is brutal when windy, no where to run & nowhere to hide.

*****UPDATE *****Well Boyz and Girlz I think in the best interest for everyone I am postponing the Meet for two weeks till Saturday Nov 5. :( I want to have as many of you to show and fish so it's a no brainer about tomorrow. I would feel horrible if a safety related issue occurred so we will have to put it on hold for now. I know a bunch of you are headin North for salmon and steelies next weekend so we will do it a bit later. The bite should actually be better and the pesty white perch and bluegills should be gone hopefully by then as well! Be safe and prepare this weekend and we'll get em soon!:D It's gonna be a peek out the window and decide what I'm doing tomorrow either sleeping in or may try and sneak out for a few hours in the morning but most likely I'm sleepin in with my baby!

Kritch and I hit the Pequest or should I say looked at it, way low...way.
Even if you hooked a fish there was no water for the fish to fight in. Left for the Musky at Stevens. Lots of weeds but a little more water. Beat it up for an hour or 2, I had one follow that's it. Zipped to the So B. notta.
Wind started to come up with sporadic rain. Time for some bourbon.

Ramapo pequaonnock and rockaway were all fishable today. Fought the weather like Wilson, but the fish are opening up a bit. Water quality was down, NE NJ had some heavier rain.
Oooorrrr go to bass pro and oogle at stuff. Always a good day

Maybe or it could be Jake and Elwood, Statler and Waldorf, Riggs and Murtaugh, Itchy and Scratchy, or Laverne and Shirley.

We came to kick some ass but instead we got our asses kicked! Haha! Couple boats here and there but not too much traffic on the pond. We had some good marks but the fish haven't chewed for about 2 weeks as far as I know. Kelly "It's A Keeper" caught 2 Brids, I got 1! Not sure if the fellas got into anything after I left but I really hope they did! Good times as usual but man oh man the fishing is off, way off compared to last year. Fluctuating temps, moons, wind, ahhhhhhh no excuses! We tried and gave it hell and will keep on pushing til the Striped ones bite again! Good to see some of the crew out there! Beautiful day as well! See you maniacs at the next party. TIGHT LINEZ TO ALL!!!:D

Well I had a very enjoyable day yesterday with the crew on Lake Hopatcong yesterday! The weather cooperated but unfortunetly the fish didn't. Was glad a few were caught as Kelly was the high hook yesterday on the GetANet and I think overall with the Hybrids! LOL:D Really happy to see a few new guys out there sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello but hope you had a good time and will come to the next! The bite was brutal the last two times I was there so I wasn't too optimistic as it seems like the Window of Opportunity has passed for the Hot Bite But one never knows! As for me I'm finished on the Big Lake for this year and next time I plan on being there is the next Ice Fishing Meet so until then TIGHT LINES!!!! Here's a couple of snaps for ya!!!!!

That was me and NickM221 in the rental. It was a lot of fun, even though I got outfished :p I had a perch and a cat, Nick had 2 perch, a cat and a 17.25 inch hybrid. Happy that we both beat the skunk, and it was awesome to get a hybrid on the boat between the two of us. Like Jigman said, there were a lot of taps from little ones that wouldn't commit to the hook and the perch we actually got a hook on were pretty nice size. It was great meeting some of you and seeing you all out there on the water. Thanks for doing this, otherwise I don't think I'd get out on the big pond at all. Sign me up for next year!

all we could get were panfish on jigging raps, drop shots, and bladebaits including some crappie. in hind site, trolling probably would've been the best bet i guess. well at least until the magical clown showed up......
the fish in general have been picky, hopefully some consistent fall weather will get things back in line!

Nice meeting some of the crew. The past 3 weeks have been very similar. Fish finder lit up like a Christmas tree but the fish have had lock jaw. Chrisper and I must have logged over 12 miles looking for active fish. Hopefully we get a stable weather pattern to change their mood.
