Salmon River 9/24

Just got back from the SR last night and decided to make a little report. Well started the morning off at ball park and hooked 2 fish very early on. Got pretty lucky as i only saw a handful of hookups all morning. By 9ish the hookups completely died. Headed over to the staircase and saw a few guys hooking up but the good holes had to many guys to squeeze in. Drove up to compactor pool (2A bridge) and there was no fish there. Decided to call it quits and headed for some lunch. After lunch I went back to the staircase and it was game on!! Hooked into 3 fish in the matter of 10 min. Before I knew it the hole I had to my self was crowded with 20 guys. About 10 hookups and 4 landed. Took one for the table and released the rest. A pretty good day with the little amount of fish in the river. Some people didn't even hook up i just got really lucky this trip. Fishing is still pretty slow. I have a feeling that there should be a major run within a week or two.FISH ONN!!!

Nice job! And actually using fly line on a fly rod! (I do the same thing).

I prefer the cold weather and steel, but no doubt the salmon are fun. Looks like you were at the staircase - pretty empty for a Saturday.

Water still kind of warm for steel. They'll always be a few that come in early, but I'd guess that with those water temps and too long a fight, said steel would be toast! lol

Good luck on your trip. I prefer the winter time up there, so I don't start going until November, and then fish through May.

I did hook into 2 cohos but both broke me off. I didn't see any steel head caught but a decent amount of cohos were caught.

I've been fishing Pulaski/Oswego for over 20 years. While I'm a die hard steel fisherman, hitting that Coho bite right can be a blast. They're some brutes!

Slow pickin thursday they killed it lots ho's and mix of steelies and kings on e they dropped the water evreything got ripped out. I ended up landing 1 king and hookin three others and two cohos all wknd thats it

Epic drought conditions this summer. Absolutely horrible up there. No rain to speak of.
