For a much maligned river, the Passaic is certainly high quality in regards to fish life - at least upriver. Seven species evening - largemouth(7) and smallmouth bass(2), black crappie(6), bluegill(2), redbreast sunfish(4), yellow(6) and white perch(1). Alas no pike love at all. Mosquito activity was so-so - a few here and there. Streamside vegetation is late summer, jungle-like as usual. Otherwise the river itself is low and clear with many weed beds to target. Not bad for an hours worth of fishing.

Pretty cool to see a White Perch from the non-tidal stretch. Nice mixed bag.

Above the conf of Pompton River(two bridges). How the fishing is below there, I have no idea but certainly above and upriver up to great swamp is alive with fish of many species. I'm sure downriver is good to up to a point as well. People at work laugh that I fish & wade into "that dirty river" but when they see how many fish and how big some get, they are shocked.
Little 5-6" crappie all hanging out near one tree.

Only about the 4th white perch I've ever caught and the 3rd one there. It made for a nice surprise.

I'm near the conf. - grew up there.
Never seriously fished it except for some trout on the pompton. Slowly scouting around- hiking walking ect- that would be the area I go to- soon. Ty for the reply
