Today I started off at a stretch that has been producing perch but it was unusually quiet. It didn't take long for me to figure out why...this monster has probably been feasting at my honey hole! Considering the several pike I've caught have been in the low 20 inches, it would not be hard to set a new pb, but clearing the 38 inch mark was RIDICULOUS!!! Just over 38". I did wind up with 5 yellow perch later in the day too.

Also saw a few green heron, a great blue heron, and the usual cormorants and turkey vultures.

Congrats.

Been about 25 years since i was at fort drum, where pike was my favorite target ... seeing a fish like that has me thinking I need to start hunting them again

I have a light 12 foot aluminum, so the pike took me for a little ride away from where we started the fight! But, yes, I released it back near where it came from. Took a little time reviving it, but it swam off and down on it's own. Hopefully it'll grow another 8 inches and pack on some pounds and vie for the state record. If not, I did my part so someone else can have a shot at the great experience that I had (or even me again if I'm so lucky).

Beautiful pike! The pike fishing has been tough there this year and I have mostly been getting small ones too.

Congrats! That's a real nice pike. I'm working in Stirling & drive over the river every day, where it's a crick, but there's a few around there...maybe I'll figure out some doable access.

Wow real beauty, congrats! What would you guess the weight to be? Nice to see a pike not only with length but good girth, looks like she;s been feeding well. Tail on her is huge! Great job and the catch and release!

Thanks. I've looked at a couple online charts that have it around 14-16 pounds and I'd say it was probably right in the middle there. It's hard to believe the state record was only 8 inches longer but double the weight at 30 1/2 lbs!!!
