OK fishing on the Raritan

Hit the lower Raritan yesterday morning in several spots looking for smallmouth. It started out VERY slow...not a touch on topwater for an hour and a half. Switched to plastics and picked up a small fish after a while. The last hour was the most productive, and I ended the day with 5 smallies in 5 hours of fishing--the biggest was 13 inches, and the other 4 were ~8 inchers. Saw a family of turkeys and several osprey patrolling the area.

The river fishing was once described as dealing with a pissed off mistress, and I believe it ! Glad you got a few anyway.

Sounds like a nice lil trip on the river. Top water bite's always fun, gotta take what we can get though. Good to see you found some hungry ones!!
