Went on a recon mission today looking for some daytime action. Beautiful, picture perfect day with low humidity to start. Went for my good friend Mr Whiskers bright and early. Managed to land 3 small Channels 3-5 lbs. Fun time till the Eels starting ripping the baits to shreds.

Left that spot to go play on a smaller Trout Crick. Good payoff there with steady action. Lots of life in NJ's rivers right now with abundant bait and predators roaming around. The usual suspects were in the smaller Crick, Rockies, Smallies, LM, Gills and of course the almighty Brown Trout. It's a shame they don't stock these beautiful fish anymore. Maybe one day they'll be back at it hopefully. I can't seem to get away from these fish this year. That would be a good thing. Went 4-6 doing the old TWITCH, TWITCH, BANG, BANG and then BOOM the Browns were there and they were pissed off. Very acrobatic today as the water temp must of been just right with the rains we had. Heres a few pics from todays action.

Biggest Channel 5 lbs.............

Silly Brown Trout, biggest 1 measured 16 inches. The other 3 were all 10-12 inchers..........

Nice fish. That's a nice brown. I was in a trout crick up there Saturday. Got some smallies rockies and gills. I couldn't believe the temp of that crick. I almost went swimming

Brian! What's the good word? How'd you make out last time out? Hope all is well!

Nada on the flatties. Not even a nibble. After awhile I switched to shiners and got a couple smallies and a small striper. Going back up in 2 weeks.

.

Great report.
You have a knack for catching night-time fish in the day-time.

I was on the river last weekend. I was surprised to see the high heat and humidity kept most people away. There were so few people on the water, it was spooky. I started getting paranoid thinking maybe everybody else knew something I didn't and that's why they weren't there.

The smallmouth bite is good despite the strong sun and heat. I didn't stay late enough for catfishing because I could see and hear a thunderstorm rolling in during the evening.

Awesome brown Trout. Definitely on my list for this year. Hopefully hit a few streams later this year with a buddy for native Browns.

The "it" is eddies veins lol. It's in his blood. Good stuff man. Those are some pretty Browns. Hope they last years in the river and hit 7-8 lb!!

I applaud you on your trout handling skill for the photos. Always keep the trout in the water or on a wet surface for picture time. How many catfish chunk baits did you get out of those browns??????:D:D:D:D

I know exactly where they are! I just don't target them in the summer! Too much going on sometimes with 3 rods going off at the same time! It gets a little intense out there especially when 2 bait runners are smoking, lol! It just doesn't feel like Walleye fishing to me unless there's a nice chill in the air and the leaves are falling off the trees! Ohhhhhhhhh, but soon, very soon, the Eyes will fall to the wrath of my jig...............HAHA!!!:)

Because of the depleted amount of Browns in the rivers...........so they say! I've changed my ways, everything else DIES of course! Rainbows, Rockies, Gills, Fallfish, Suckers, 12 inch Smallies, 15 inch Green Carp "LM", Eels, baby Carps and baby Birds are all the bait of choice for now! Please help in protecting this precious resource! LMAO! TIGHT LINEZ!!!!!:D
