The NJDEP should post the photos of the first place fish. It would be nice to see some of the bigger ones like the 27" pickerel, 23 1/4" lmb and 10.5" sunfish.
BTW this Christopher Pereira guy is such a showoff...four first place fish...lucky SOB.
;)
Well done.

Here is the link you are referring to: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/skflang_leaders.htm
This hasn't been updated for August yet. I anticipate taking the lead in one of the categories after they process the application and pictures I just sent them. :)

I had no idea about the length for c-r
I had a largemouth and a brownie I think would have made it- oh well-I'm with jig man
Yea it's good to see how the fishery is in our state-
Edit for honesty- my brownie might have been 23- I released her- so I'll have to sneak up on her again this winter

That's def a typo on the site, cause that doesn't even meet the requirements. But anyway, use the c&r!
Jeremy, my 28.5" walleye is going to haunt you! You have less than 5 months to beat me! Rob almost edged me out of my own boat the other week! Wtf!?
Seriously though, I contacted them about posting more info/pictures on submissions rather than just on winning fish maybe by giving access to a database for those anglers participating so that everyone could benefit from the data...they said too much man hours...I said send me all the data I'll share it ;) ...no response hahaha

I know every year the Pa Fish & Boat Comm posts its "Biggest Fish" winners. Top five for numerous species along with the who, where, when and how. Some impressive fish but again no photos.

eh, many winners plus bigger ones not submitted are posted here throughout the year on njf by all of us. I'm more interested in the data! NJ only makes available the data for each 1 biggest fish...i want ALL THE SUBMITTED DATA!

you know what else...I've emailed njf&g not only about sharing the data from ALL the skillful angler submissions but also about having the submission totally digital online so that people can submit through email or an online submission forum or something...it would make the pictures digitally available and much easier in total and would take less man hours...they'd just need someone to double check the entries were legit and the data could be displayed. If i knew anything about computer code i'd offer to do it myself, but i can't imagine it'd be that hard. anyway they pretty much wrote me off on the whole thought. reminds me of the KDC website that looks to me like a website made when the internet was first invented haha...pretty sad waste of potential fishing data, but oh well. maybe if we all start emailing them about it haha.

You don't need to be an html wiz to write a basic page. All you need is Wordpress. It's as intuitive as a smart phone. All you'd need is a basic pkg and they're free. Seems like it's more of a man power thing as these types of projects take time. Build, format, linking, re-directs and testing before go-live.

Ken--
Unfortunately applications must be submitted within 30 days. All of the info is in the freshwater digest published by the state, you should check it out. There are different categories for adult, junior, and catch and release and they just expanded some of the bonus categories last year. Any fish above a certain size is recognized, but info on the biggest fish of each species gets published every year.

I work in IT and there are thousands of college kids looking for "internships" every semester that would do this for free. If you didn't know, many internships are unpaid these days especially in the scientific and environmental fields. I know as my kid is in the environmental consulting field. Companies want experience as well as education these days and kids need it. A kid would love the chance to actually do something like this...rather than sit in a cubical running QA on some BS conglomerates service center software! :D It would be great if NJF&G were able to utilize that kind of resource.
