Left the dock with my old man around 6:30 and headed out to the fluke grounds. The begining of the day flat out sucked. 2 shorts by 11:00..... Decided to change up the area and run way west back to where we had been fishing earlier this year and it was lights out fishing. By 1 o'clock we managed to put 8 keepers in the boat along with a couple of fish that were just at 18 that went back to fight another day. By 1, conditions just deteriorated with east wind vs outgoing tide. Fish wanted green chartruse 4 inch mullets and 6inch grubs. No big fish, but my dad managed one right at 4lbs. Terrible start, but a fantastic finish. Pictures up soon

They bite all summer. Surface temp. has nothing to do with it.Fluke live on the bottom. The Raritan Reach and Red Bank Reach have depths as deep as 48'. Raritan Bay is way deeper then Barnegat or Great Bay and it is fed by four rivers. Some of the best fluking of the year can occur in August when the fluke are chasing peanut bunker.
