My son and myself arrived at the Big D about 6:00pm. I set up 3 rods for catfish and we threw grubbsters, jerk shads and various toppwaters while attending the catfish rods. We caught a bunch of smallies, pan fish, 1 large mouth and some kitty's. No small schoolie 10-14 inch stripers this evening which I was surprised cause they have been all over the river last couple weeks. Fished small live sunnie's on one of the catfish rods all evening hoping for Mr' flathead but only a channel catfish and 2lb smallie thought it was tasty. Here's a pic of 2 of the nicer catfish we caught before they were released.

Nice Cats dude! August is just about here finally! Phenom month to be on the river with big baits! Smallie inhaled the live Bluegill? Haha! Happens all the time!:D

Yeah Eddie me n my son are Big D nuts like you!!! We live about 15 min from river so we fish it 2-3 times a week. When we catfish we fish big chunk baits and live panfish. You don't get as many hits but the hits you do get are all quality fish!! It's amazing how those small mouths inhale those rockbass and sunnies. We've already caught a couple they didn't even get hooked, sunnie was just lodged in there mouth n the couldn't spit it back out:eek: Can't wait to get out of work and fish it tonight with this overcast rainy day...should be awesome ton. Plus all weekend warriors and tourist go home on Sunday and the river is nice and peaceful and we usual have it to ourselves.

May not be Flathead's, but still nice kitties! River going up much from the recent storms?
