Encountered a fellow fishing a private pond in mountain lakes. Not only was he not supposed to fish there cause he's not a resident but when I observed him.putting a baby carp/goldfish on the hook, I almost flipped. I asked him what are you using, he said fatheads from Dover Sport. I said these are not fatheads but carp and Dover Sport does not sell invasive species for bait. I told him it is illegal and again asked him where he got the bait. Pet shop? He stayed quite. I've never seen any pet stores sell 2" grey carp by the dozen plus. He packed his rods saying something about a hard day and trying to catch fish for his kid, who was in the car. Eve tally he packed his car and left. I followed and what do you know, he attempted to drive to another local lake. I drove to police department and filed a report giving them his license plate. I can't believe someone can be so calous and insensitive.
Please b we vigilant in your community, as on Wed never knows where this can happen.

you'd think that he would want to show his kid the right way to catch a fish vs poaching it off private property with illegal bait... just a shame because junior is going to grow up to do the same crap

next time call the NJDEP number too 877-WARN-DEP and they'll send a CO over if there is one nearby... MLPD investigation is probably going to consist of them filing that report away and never thinking about it again

it's a shame to find people like that. definitely not a brother of the woods and water acting like that, and what was the kid doing in the car? that's certainly no way to teach a child to fish:mad:god sees him and will set him in his place. next time call the game warden and they to will put him in his place.thank you for checking him out and following him good work bro.

Dude told me he was from Parsippany and knew someone from country sheriff's Dept. I TD hm it's irrelevant here, could soldering the bait he was using. Also I asked him why he does not fish lake Parsippany. He did not answer cause I think he was lying about everything

When he gets charged with defiant trespass, he'll start to think twice before fishing in private ponds.

In New Jersey, defiant trespass can occur in a property normally open to public if notice against trespass is given by:
a. Actual communication to the actor

b. Posting in a manner prescribed by law or reasonably likely to come to the attention of intruders

c. Fencing or other enclosure manifestly designed to exclude intruders.

Illegal to use goldfish as bait. Not only that, fish prefer a more native type of fish anyway.
