My dad and I took a trip to Cooperstown this weekend, and hooked up with a guide to fish Lake Otsego. He picked us up from the hotel dock at 6 AM Saturday, and almost from the first cast it was lights-out smallie fishing. They were up shallow crashing spinnerbaits. Unfortunately our good fortune would not last, as some nasty storms rolled through, forcing us to call it an early day. Despite that we still boated around 20 smallies, some pushing 3 pounds.
Once the rains blew out Dad and I hit the town, checked out the Hall of Fame, some souvenir shops, and got a great sushi and hibachi dinner. We left for home early this morning after a quick breakfast. All in all a good trip, but if not for the rains the fishing could have been legendary.
