Yeah buddy!! Decent looking 8lber as well! These guys are getting hungrier by the day. I think it sucks but at the same time interesting when catching a pike with an eye or even two missing, I've landed one that had clouds for eyes. Also seen two albinos, one being about 36". Being blind & big shows how great they are at what they do, haha! Cool post man!!

Pike eyes make very good perch bait. I don't recommend removing both eyes, but god gave pike two eyes for a reason.

Very true, but it would be unfair to the pike to remove both eyes. It makes it much harder for them to feed.

I'd say if you're keeping the fish as a whole, than it's definitely great to utilize every part of it you can. But releasing it after keeping an eye to use for bait...I dunno. Might as well just drag some trebles on the troll & "fish".:confused::confused::confused:

You can't possibly be serious? Removing an eye from a live fish then releasing it is a terrible, cruel and ridiculously unsportsmanlike thing to do. If it isn't illegal to mutilate a fish you release, than it should be. Anyone that participates in this behavior is clearly a jerk.
FYI, while fish can survive with one eye, it makes hunting much more difficult.

Btw, you know what else makes good perch bait? Worms, flatheads, shiners. If you can't catch perch on those baits, perhaps you should quit. And if your ripping out one eye and releasing the fish, that wouldn't be a bad thing.

I`ve taken an eye or two out of dead fish...... NEVER a LIVE fish........ that`s totally F`d up.

Well..... I NEVER remove eyes from any fish.....EVER. If I find a dead one, I might use an eye...... but NEVER from a LIVE fish. That`s phucked up if anybody does that. (And don`t I don`t EVER wanna catch anybody around me doin` such stupid shit like that. `Cause then we`d have a problem.)

I've caught Pike as far up the Passaic as Berkeley Heights. But what the heck do the Pike do after it rains and the River looks like chocolate milk for days on end? Catfish and Carp can eat whatever garbage they find in total darkness but Pike are sight hunters and need to see their prey. Are they really at home in the muddy Passaic?

Pike will bite whenever, sometimes more than others. But presentation & location is just as important as timing. Throwing 1 lure while standing in 1 place will not produce the best results. I like to see guys showing up after me to a spot, not catch anything, and leave sooner than I do...shows some type of dedication/determination, or lack thereof. I know I always have more of a chance on landing a nice fish when on an outing with my friends because I know I'll be casting more, trying more lures, & covering more ground...(not talking ice fishing). But same mentality, no lazy bones...cut more holes dammit!! The more you try out, the more tricks you'll have up your sleeve. No half steppin.
