Went ultralight carpin' in a park pond yesterday evening. Only landed a bluegill and 12.5 lb snapping turtle with my homemade corn meal bait on a #14 gold treble hook and 4 lb test line. Fish stop biting when the snappers arrive to eat my corn chum. That's 23.5, 17 and 12.5 lb snappers that I caught in the pond this year. I caught and released 75 bluegills, 4 pumpkinseed sunfish and 2 largemouth bass to 18.5" and 3 lbs on my unbaited hook yesterday. Looks like a #14 gold treble hook is my best lure.

Interesting. That bass could eat a bluegill the size of the palm of your hand. A bass eating a bare#14 treble hook is very odd indeed.

Probably thought it was a bug on the surface I was thinking.

Decent lookin bass there Bands!! Still hittin em' with the ol' Garcia? Kinda looked like it in the bass pic. I recently found an old Daiwa AS1350 reel that just needed some grease inside it & kinda reminded me of the ol' 300. Anyway nice catch, watch them snappers man, they've got some surprisingly long necks!!
