Got out on Wednesday on the big Lake and got humbled. Was trying to catch a hybrid or walle from shore and couldn't get a sniff in 4 hours. I came armed with two dozen live herring and plenty of the obvious lure choices(xrap, bombers, spooks). I'm getting frustrated with this fishery because it seems that without a boat you have no shot. I fished the BB area and the beach pier and hardly heard a splash all night. Sigh, might just go back to catfishing for a while...

Shore fishing at big lake could be tricky but then again it can be a blast.

Fish migrate all over place and where they stack up can vary by season and year. From what I have seen they are usually on 2 to 3 year cycle but they are around.

Best times for me usually were before sunrise and sunset with varied luck any other time.

Good luck

C'mon buddy! Keep casting! The fish are there, you just have to use your ears! The night bite at the pond takes some experience but overall it's really not complicated! I've been out for em twice this month and managed to get my fix both trips! Used to do 2-3 trips a week this time if year but times not on my side right now! You'll get em if you keep at it!

the key to catching any fish is to go as often as you can.like it was said these fish are moving and feeding at different times every day.change up the times you fish.sometimes I don't start till 2am.

Friday night/Saturday morning it took a while to get a flurry of strikes. Think we managed 5 or 6 from 3 am to 345 after fishing a very slow pick from 1145 pm-3 am. Timing, decreased boat traffic and a strict refusal to not stop casting paid off.
