I'm trying to cross Walleye off my list and was thinking of dropping my boat in Swartswood Friday for some evening/night fishing (its just a 14' jon boat, so unless the weather is perfect I'm not sure I want to put it in Hopatcong). Can I get a few tips on what lures to bring with me and what I should be looking for on the lake?

When I had my 14ft boat lake hopatcong is the only lake I would use at night and never really had a problem at all. Big rapalas and listen for bait fish jumping.

Use jigs for the walleyes they love attacking those lures.

agreed.. The only thing better than a jig for walleyes is a jig with a lip hooked minnow, or a jig with a night crawler... bob

6hp gas motor if im out on hopatcong. It does its job pretty nicely in most of the other lakes around here. I have a 15 as well but it needs some work.

Well, I hit up Swartswood tonight from about 7-11pm. Around 10:00 the herring were all over the place, but there were no eyes to be seen. Talked to a couple other guys who were coming off the lake at the same time as me and they struck out as well. It might be a few weeks before I get back out, but I will cross those eyes off my list!
