After work hawg!

I was going to hit up a local pond with a work buddy of mine after work was over, but he bailed last minute, so I went by myself. Caught a small bass almost immediately, thought it was game on. After fishing my favorite cove without another hit, I thought it may be a tough bite after all. I get to a gravel bank next to some pads, and I see a 2 pounder on a bed. I wasn't too interested in him, but I knew the female might be around, so I took a few casts. As I was bringing my chatterbait through the pads, it feels like I get stuck on a stem. I try to jiggle it free, nothing. I try jiggling it again... it jiggles back! I come tight on the line and see a MONSTER bass turn broadside with my lure in its mouth! Didn't even have time to set the hook before it took off for deeper water. All I could so was keep the line tight and wind, praying that the hook would hold. Fortunately it did, and I wound up with my best bass of the year so far. I didn't have my GoPro with me, but I did take a couple of photos.

My buddy is not going to hear the end of this one for a while. :D

Nice bass Lard! that lake always shines this part of the year, caught a similar sized one 2 years ago around this time as well. Really wish finals were over so I would be back in jersey to fish it!!
