I have a helix 9 unit. Trying to decide whether to go with the Lakemaster plus chip or the Navionics chip. Was going with the lakemaster untill I noticed one of the lakes I fish wasn't on it but was on the Navionics. Which one do you guys prefer and why? I want to fish for any and everything that bites in nj, NY, & PA.

i don't have any experience with lakemaster but have been using the navionics app for a couple of years and find it reliable.view their webapp to see the lakes and detail they have be sure to change the contour mode to sonar charts to get the detail.

Another consideration is that Navionics plus gives you access to maps for the entire country and canada not just a specific region and includes 1 year of updates.

Also check the mapping functionality of your unit to see if it requires lake master (depth highlighting for example)

These guys are having a fire sale on Navionics

Thanks for all the good info and links. Hard to believe no one else has an opinion on the subject.

Never used or heard of Lakemaster but used Navionics for 15 seasons in one from or another seems to perform pretty decent ! Used mine in Furuno electronics , salt only .

I run navionics platinums on both my finders and they show everything, even big D contours and ocean to 3 miles out at 1ft intervals, then 10ft til canyons. The only reason to run lakemaster is if you have an ipilot link, then its the only way to have it follow the contour. If you just want mapping navionics is the way to go. You can also get navionics + I think its called where you can download 2 gigs of ANY area in the world/USA so if you travel out of state you can have maps too

I use Navionics most of the time but usually end up recording and uploading to Insight Genesis to generate more accurate maps for my favorite lakes. At first I thought it'd be complicated and not worth the effort but boy was I wrong.
