The WCC needs help with stocking the Musconetcong River with trout this Friday. Our volunteers stock stretches of the river that the state trucks cannot reach in order to safely spread the fish out better.

By the end of June, most NJ waterbodies that are stocked with trout get too warm from them to survive. This is a great opportunity to learn the river and spots where trout will survive year round.

We will be meeting at the Hackettstown Hatchery at 7am this Friday. If you haven't done this before and would like to, please fill out the form from website below and bring it.

http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/wcchome.htm

We are currently short on help so please come out if you are available. Any questions PM me.

Looking at that application no wonder you have trouble getting people to help. To much personal info wanted in that application IMO. What if you only want to help stock one time? They are looking for help not a job applicant.

They are looking to not get sued.

fine with me they require some info, i'd rather not have anybody drive off laughing with 100 trout in the back of their pickup because they gave a fake name

The Trout in the Musky holdover without any issues! I catch them all year round! Great opportunity for guys wondering where the fish are! If I had time I would be there! Remember, when the river floods, the fish are quite capable of swimming up or downstream to find waters suitable to they're needs and longevity! They're just fish but they do have brains and know when an area is challenging there life! As for clubs! Ehhhhhh!!!! Whatever! I catch all your Trout! Thank you!!! And nooooooo! I didn't have to pay for membership!!! LMFAO!!!:D

Then be more than an average fisherman. The state asking for help to spread the stocking program on the musky is something that should be applauded not bashed. Jesus...

Some of us appreciate not having to sit elbow to elbow with fellow anglers and also appreciate taking a stroll to find fish. If you don't like private waters just fish them until told otherwise. And catching 9" stockies doesn't make anyone look like a guru.

You got that right. Could you be referring to a certain guide with a feeder?

I've stocked with them before, good people! All state fish and no spot stocked is private property. Some posted C&R yes, but not private. Spreads the fish out nicely and still puts out significantly less than the main stocking truck. Plenty of fish, and spots out there for all. All done on a volunteer basis to improve the fishery. IMHO......

Plus, you can still find fish like these that don't come off the truck..... :D

Kronk / Goin Fishin,

Collectively you guys have 11 posts. If I took the time to check, it wouldn't surprise me if they were all as contentious as your contribution to this thread. Someone is asking for help stocking trout, something I'm sure many people would love to do. If you don't want to be involved, don't ruin the experience or question the intentions of the original poster in the process. This is one of the better fishing sites there are, you can help keep it that way or turn it into another cesspool site like so many others with negative comments. Show some respect for all the good members and Gerry Z the owner. He's invested an incredible amount of his time and money creating this and keeping it civil. I'm sure he could use everyone's help keeping this the best fishing site out there. Your choice but just my .02!

Thanks to those who replied with supportive words. If anyone is unsure of our intentions they are welcome to volunteer with us and see how we operate. But bringing the WCC signup form is a must to join us for insurance reasons.

god bless all that help the stocking efforts.besides as pointed out its a good way to know the river. hey north jerzyg are you shure the fish your holding in that photo is a holdover? its a really nice rainbow.with all the bucketeers and commerants, snapping turtles and low water conditions that exists there in the summer months,i don't see many trout surviving.that one has a ground down dorsal fin common on most concrete critters the state stocks.

I'm not sure if it was a holdover or a privately stocked fish but it didn't even closely resemble anything we were tossing in from the state truck.......

I don't know, but for some reason this fish looks like freshwater salmon.

We had 8 volunteers come out in the pouring rain this morning to help stock the Musky. Got to meet Capt. Lou from this forum who came out. Thanks to those who helped.

We will need help in future weeks this May as many of the volunteers have jobs and can't make it every Friday.

Next scheduled stocking please send me a pm and if I'm available I'd love giving it a shot. I've never helped stock, sure it would be a great experience and nothing wrong meeting good people who devote their time so others can benefit.

Capt. Lou is a good guy. He's helped me stock the BFB a couple of times, and has lent his time and energies to the PA F&BC to help stock many Pennsy waters over the years.
