I assume we have to register the same for NY boundary waters. Especially for those that fish the northern section of Raritan bay.

In one thread we (anglers) are trying to stop the govt. from interfering with the bay and some rivers. In this thread we are now reminding anglers to volunteer up information TO THE GOVT to use in their decision making. hmmmmm

The law is the law. I don't need any tickets. I have enough headaches. If you choose not to register, no problem. Not to mention I'm about to submit my captains paperwork and don't need any black marks at all

Nowhere did I say not to register. Nowhere did I say I wasn't going to register. Nowhere did I tell you or anyone else what to do!
My response was merely stating that how in one thread we are openly trying to keep the govt away from our beloved pastime (and work area for many). But yet in this thread we are encouraging people to offer up info to the same people that restrict our bag limits, seasons etc... Seems strange doesn't it?

To Andy it doesn't matter. He doesn't fish anymore, he just hunts for tires.

Didn't mean to start a problem and I'm not crazy about it myself. I just wanted to remind peeps that if they want to register now is the time.

I hate the idea of the salt water registry. At least with the fresh water license you're paying for the stocking programs and I assume other fish and game services. This is literally a just list of people who salt water fish. At least it's still free for now...

The registry is a direct result of the Federal Governments Magnuson Stevens Act. Every state has to have a registry to be in compliance.
Many states decided it was an opportunity to create a paid for salt water license. If you remember, our state tried to do the same... They got someone in Fish and Game people to try and float a trail balloon and when it got met with widespread opposition, it was during an election year and the politicians ran from it like a burning building :D
NY actually had a paid license for a year or 2 and the people revolted and got it overturned. Good for them!!
This is a perfect example of big government gone wrong....On the surface the Mangnuson Stevens Act was viewed as a good thing...Most of us wanted to do something to protect our fisheries, but look what it morphed into. Even with the best intentions things got totally screwed up. Another example is Obama Care.....
Same could be said of the Marine Sanctuary Program so if you have not signed the petition in the post above, please consider doing that.
The silver lining in this cloud is people are getting "fed" up and career politicians have been served notice that we are not going to stand by and take it any more....
Politicians are like diapers... They need to be changed frequently and for the same reason :)

Out of state adult on a private boat I believe has to register. Under 16 I don't think has to register. Check the link. It should tell you for sure

Correct - Under 16 you don't have to register. If you were to fish on a charter or party boat, they have you covered under their license, if fishing on a private boat you need to register.
