I just booked a 5 day fly fishing trip to Fernie, BC. for August.

What's the best "waders"? I think even the breathable wader might be too hot.
Water shoes allow small pebbles and sands to get in but most of all, I kept hitting the rocks and my toes get bruised.

Any brilliant suggestions?

Thank you

Not sure if they will be to hot for you, but when I go stream/pond fishing, I use my lightweight chest waders by "field and stream" with the neoprene stocking foot, and corker boots (non slip on the rocks) Now, I'm a big time sweat monster LOL, and they are not bad at all in the summer because of the light material. Sometimes at the end of the day after spending the day in the river, I pour out a pile of little stones etc from my boot, but because of the neoprene foot, I have NO idea they were even in there. Just a suggestion.

you can get wading boots, like the ones you would wear over sock foot waders. they're meant to go in the water completely but aren't open so rocks won't get in and you can't stub your toe. then you could wear water socks or go barefoot in them and wear swimming shorts.

I have Korker boots. I will just get studded felt soles and get Neoprene socks?

Thank you everyone. :)

From what I hear.. this is the Dry Fly heaven for 28" Bull trouts.. :)

now.. I have to figure out how I can bring them in using 3wt.. to impress other fly "elitists". :)

One guy brought in 28" bull trout using 5wt rod last Summer..

Why not ask the outfitter what works best.
Might be colder up there then you think;)

I have a pair of Chota wading boots that fits a bit snugger than my Korker Chromes, and I use those for wet wading. I got a pair of the Simms wet wading sox following a recommendation from a few others and like them a lot. They're kind of like wool, but must have some synthetic materials in them as well because they don't get all stretched out and loose after being wet for a long time. There are also neoprene sox that will work for this too. Just put enough layers under your Korkers that they aren't super loose and go with those. I've never had any issues with gravel or anything getting into my boots. Some sand when surf fishing, yes, but even that wasn't really much, and like what another poster said, I didn't know about it until I took the boots off.

I like the LL Bean Fly Weight waders for summer stream fishing.
