I could tell a fiserman's tale, but truth of the matter, we got skunked last night on Assunpink, but this picture my daughter took it what "IT'S ALL ABOUT", Out on the lake after work with my Daughter, and Man's BEST friend (Diesel), This is my Drug's, My Alcohol, this is "MY HIGH"..... Could care less about anything right there, I'm actually in heaven when I'm out on the lake. NOBODY could ever take that feeling away from me!!!! I sure hope all you experience the same feeling I get when I'm out there fishing... Just cannot explain it.

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, Jameson, my canine partner, is a reluctant participant. As soon as he sees the pole in my hand he goes from excited for a walk to annoyed at the prospect of spending his 'walk' tied to various tree branches, roots etc. (I.e. Whatever anchor happens to be within arms reach of my newest 'spot').

Couldn't agree more. And along the same lines as the quote about how not all who wander are lost.....

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not the fish they are after” – Thoreau

...nah, I'd say you explained it perfectly!
Can't fully appreciate the good or great days if you can't somewhat appreciate the skunky ones. Great post man, cool pic too!

I really appreciate this post. I agree 100%. Catching any or not, to get and pursue the happiness...always yields at least some of that, and more often than not, quite a lot, fish or no fish.

For sure.. Better then any high blood pressure medicine or shrink.

And, "The gods do not subtract from the allotted span of men's lives the hours spent on fishing."

Your daughter's photo is definitely "cover" material for a magazine. Contact Cindy at NJFG&W. She is the editor for them specifically for their compendiums. ( Or is it compendii?)

Yes, most women do not get it why we want to be out on the H2-oh as much as we do & why it is never enough. The dogs get it though!

Did not work out so well when I took the cat though...

It's not how many fish you have caught rather where the fishing takes you in life.

I feel the same way when I wade in the Raritan River. peaceful, birds chirping... Fish or no fish, just breathing in that fresh air and listening to that silence is really a feeling you need to experience.
