Crews from the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife's Hackettstown Hatchery stocked 1,405 holdover Landlocked Salmon averaging 15.6 inches and 1.65 pounds each between March 10 and 14. The salmon await anglers in three waters: Wawayanda Lake, Tilcon Lake and Lake Aeroflex. These waters remain open for catch-and-release fishing during the trout season pre-season closure which begins March 21.

For details and more information, visit http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/news/2016/salmonstock3-16.htm on the Division's website.

Nice I need to knock them off my list. What depths are good to target trolling Aeroflex this time of year? I've never trolled that lake.

Last month Aeroflex salmon were averaging 8-15 feet below ice. Jigged 10 this year up to 18". Fishing the first bowl off the boat launch is 40 ft deep, fish marked deeper wouldn't eat.

this time of year they are up high in column, look for the depths the herring are at and thats what you target, aeroflex is loaded w bait. Used to fish it all the time but only got on once last year w my wife (new boat is hard to launch in skinny water) we just livelined herring and got a few, she got 2 back to back that were 3 and 4 pounders, rest were 15-17" cookie cutters, and plenty of stock trout too that day. I know alot of guys just cast spinners and small stickbaits, but you can troll the usual spoons etc like you do for trout and get them too

A couple of guys were catching them from Aeroflex last week on jerkbaits and Keitechs while bass fishing around weedlines.

They amaze me in August. You know they're deep, but they sense herring flickering up top and shoot like rockets to bust them at the surface sending spray all over as they then turn and dive.

Yeap, the salmon were all over the place, most down about 20-25 ft, not as high up as i thought.
we saw one follow our lure up that was easily 5+ LBS looked like a green torpedo

We found a pack of salmon in 6 ft of water in the weeds and were killin them. really fun fish, but man those bigger salmon are Smart, and will only eat the natural herring

i don't keep many fish but man these are tasty smoked up

NOW IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO HIT THE LL before that lakes stratify. They are everywhere in the water column & will now rush to slam anything that moves. You can get them with top water which is to awesome for words.

Please be gentle to them & make sure that you revive them before releasing them. Their are such gamers & will give everything they have. Give them their due respect if you do not plan on taking them for the table.

If you want to get the big guys you will definitely have use light leaders & be smarter then the fish.

I HAVE to get after these... I've always heard how great they fight up north so I'll have to give Aero a shot soon. Maybe a week or two from now.
