This weekend I joined a few of my friends on a trip to fish for wild trout in central Pennsylvania. My friends are experts in the art of flyfishing for trout, and though I was spin fishing I knew I would learn quite a bit on the trip.
I started out fishing with pins minnows and spinners which accounted for a couple of fish. However, I quickly switched over to nymphing when my friend demonstrated the effectiveness of the technique. We ended up fishing all day Saturday in absolutely beautiful weather. Everyone caught fish, and i ended the day with 6 wild brown trout and a feisty little rainbow. With the long drive home and rainy weather, we only fished a few hours on Sunday. Everyone caught fish and I tallied another beautiful wild brown and a monster fallfish that was easily 2 to 3lbs. All in all it was a fantastic trip. Not only were the wild browns flawless, but they fought very hard on ultralight tackle. Here are some pics:
