left the dock at 6:15 Saturday morning with my son in search of the crappies.
1st spot we hit is loaded with 5-7 " fish.it was a fish a cast for 45 minutes but nothing big.we head out to anther spot .fish there for about 30 minutes with 2 nice 12 inchers but no other bites.we head to our 3rd spot and game on
with all nice big crappie and yellow perch.that bite lasted for an hour which was long enough for us to get out limit of crappies.it was about 10am and we
were headed in when we decided to hit one more spot.we put the anchors down and start casting.it took a few minutes but the fish turned on and we started catching shiners, sunnies, crappies and perch one after another.we stayed for about 45 minutes and left them biting.
sunday we left the dock at 6:30.we had agreed to try a few spots we have not hit lately to see what was around.we get to the 1st spot and its still a little dark.we finish our coffees and start casting.it takes a little while but the crappies start eating.we were catching them one after another with some jumbos mixed it.we also caught a few pickerel and lm bass on the jigs too.you could see them schooled up and moving around, there were fish everywhere you looked.sunday was all catchand release.

I fished again yesterday afternoon and caught about 40+ crappie with my buddy with some real jumbos 13-14" mixed in. We also got 1 yellow perch, 1 small LMB and 4 pickerel. There was a lot boats in the small cove we were in too... When we got back to the state ramp just as it was getting dark we saw a pile of dead crappie somebody dumped at the dock! There was probably 15-20 fish there on the bottom at the end of the dock and they weren't fileted out or anything that we could see. No clue ytf anybody would do that... There was nobody around or cars in the parking lot when we got there either.

that's ridiculous. I would love to be able to fish in a lake where I could eat the crappie & perch from & then ya got jagoffs doing that!

Man people just make me sick.

I got home after a great day of fishing to an email from my father in law holding a 40" musky in his basement! WTF fish of a lifetime and you want to eat it? I guess once a member of the bucket brigade always a member.

I think I was in the same cove, I was in the black and tan tracker. A ton of boats with a ton of action.

Fish dumped. And crappies as well.

Just for the note the man was out there both Saturday and Sunday so your assumption is pretty much right on the money.

How much fish do you really need. I hope they got nailed

Andre

I was in the old green 16' aluminum. My boat is the Dirty Hooker, it's a '83 Mirrocraft Lake Fisherman II I fully restored last year. It had the white Johnson 9.9 and a trolling motor on the back end. We took fish but we eat them, no reason to just waste them and dump them at the dock dead to stick in everybody's face...

Ha that thing is awesome! We were laughing at the name and the stenciling on the side. Love it!

You guys are hardcore fishing in t-shirts. We were bundled up like a couple of sally's. I'll say hi the next time I see the Hooker out on the town.

Me and my buddy both have a lil extra padding to keep us warm lol. My name's Kris. You'd never believe what my boat looked like before I restored it lol. It's just a base bench model but I have it rigged out just how I want. I can't wait to get it in the reservoirs again this year for lakers.

Greetings! I saw those dead fish at the end of the dock today. The water was very clear and if my eyes did not deceive me, they were filleted. I know I will get hammered for this, but if the crappies get hammered like they are and taken, there will not be a fishery left. Look what has happened to the bass fishing on Lake Hopatcong where the NJ Fish and Game has found that they needed to do supplemental stocking. I've seen the clientele ice fish and take 5 gallon buckets to their vehicle and fill another 5 gallon bucket. I will watch and continue to contact the wardens when I see this and I have been successful. Not to brag and with all humbleness my good friend and I crappie fish all year long and release 95 % of the time. If we kept everything we catch we would surely do a hurting on the pollution of those fish. No disrespect to anyone on this board, but in my humble opinion the crappie is a very vulnerable fish and very easy to catch. Sometimes I wish the limit was 8 fish to go with the 8 inches, maybe easier to remember.

It was getting dark when we hit the ramp so you could be right? I hope they weren't wasted anyway.

While I was fishing there Saturday, fish and game cop came around checking buckets and for licenses. He even grabbed a pair of binoculars to call out and check people in boats. Nice guy...asked him for a business card with phone numbers, emails, etc. if anyone wants his info shoot me a PM and I will provide u with his info.

as long as you are just taking your limit it will be fine.i have fished that lake for 45 years and have only seen it get better.if you know anything about lake Hopatcong you would have to agree.as far as the lm bass go,there are plenty
there.the forage base in that lake is 2nd to none.because you don't catch them dose not mean they are not there.

Hello Bunker Dunker. I will not argue with you. Hope you are correct. By the way, you may not remember me, but I ice fished with you when you were a youngster out of River Styx. I was jigging only and you guys were using tip-ups. Your father was there and some childhood friends were with you. I knew Bob Neals and fished with him for some years. I think you knew him. Good fishing to you.

no worries, all is good.i do remember being in stx that day.i just want peeps to know that the lake is in good shape and getting better all the time.we just have to take care of her.the knee deep club has been a huge part of it and will continue to be but we need help from everyone who wets a line there club member or not.pick up your garbage, only keep your limit,be respectful of the properties that surround her.
