Stopped by one of the ponds I fish early in the year for Bass, I could not believe all the carp sunning in the shallows. I really want to try to fish for these carp, some were HUGH!!! Since I have never tried it before, what is one of the best kinda baits should I use? Store bought, or homemade? And, are these carp feeding at all this time of year? Thanks, Rich

Throw out half a can of whole kernel corn for chum, then use corn for bait on a small gold hook.

You can usually sight cast them on ultralight with a number 8 snelled leadered hook no weight with a few corn kernels stringed on if you can get within 30 feet.

Best thing I've found is fiberglass. Man they love it.

Back when I fished for carp as a kid I used corn, dough balls and garden worms. Those lower Passaic River carp were delicious back on the 60's. They don't have the same flavor these days.

This time of year sometimes they aren't ready to feed on the bottom yet as it's cold down there. Try tossing some bread or bagel pieces out once they come over put a piece on light line and 6 hook and hold on got this guy yesterday
