got up to the lake early{6:30am}on Saturday hoping to pick up were we had left of last weekend,Wrong.every spot I know from woodport to lakes end had iced over.we decided to wait till after lunch and take the boat out.we pushed off at 12 noon and headed to were we had been catching them.we pull into the cove and anchor up and its game on.we are catching crappie, white and
yellow perch, sunnies, shiners and slim darts.all three of us were hooking up
one after another.we fished till 4pm and only kept a few big yellows for diner.
the fishing was so could that we decided to do it again on sunday.we pushed off at 9:30 and motored up to the spot.dropped the anchors and started catching right away.it was the same mix of fish.we did decide to keep our limit of crappie and a few big yellows and whites for a fish fry.my 4lb test was so
stretched out I had to change both rods when I got back yesterday.the small husky jerks work great as did the jig and bobber.with the next 3 days at 60
degree plus the fishing should really get better.it was good to see a few njfishing folks out there catching some fish also.might have to take Wednesday off.

good to see you guys out there! we tried counting and had about 200 fish between the two of us. the perch seemed to highly prefer my buddy's little curl tail grub while the crappie highly preferred my mini-mite...after that got torn up too badly i kept catching them as consistently or maybe better on a little bps tube. it was insane. when we left we tried a bunch of other spots and did not get one nibble ANYWHERE...came back later and went right back to catching just as hot and heavy.
after we were done a fish and game officer checked our licenses quick and easy, glad they're around checking.

I hear ya Chris, they really beat that mini-mite up.take some crazy glue and put a little around the head of the jig then slide the body onto it.it will hold the body in place allot longer and you will get much more out of it.

oh yeah i did that or it would've been toast a lot quicker...but they still ripped it to shreds! haha, the head stayed glued on but the tail was coming off. the little tubes are much cheaper though, i might start off with them next time, seemed to work just as well if not better that day. 90 percent of my fish were crappie and 90 percent of my friend's fish were perch...it was pretty crazy how they clearly preferred different lures.
little feathers or bucktail tied to a little jig would work too i'm sure.

1/64 or 1/32 of an oz Joe is what we have been using but I'm sure a little bigger would not hurt. I like the mini-mite because they are cheap.you catch 50 fish on it then you throw it over and tie a new one one.$1.50 for 50 fish, win
win in my book.
