hit lh with my son yesterday to kick off the spring perch hunt.a little windy but a great day.we had fish at every spot we tried in the morning.around 11:30 we took a lunch break and re grouped.a friend wanted to take his boat out for a test run so we all jumped in to hit a few other spots.we pull into the cove, drop the anchor and its game on with the crappies.i have never seen ice off fishing like that ever.for 2-1/2 hours we put a whoopin on them.we weeded thru them and kept out limit of 30.gotta love the live well for culling the catch.it was great fishing and its only going to get better.we caught shinners, perch, crappie and pickerel.all fish caught on mitte-mite jigs with a boober 30 inches above.chartruse or yellow seemed to be the color of choice.

that's awesome! LH panfish was my backup plan, but we ended up getting on elsewhere. with the sun going down later and later giving me more time to fish i might have to jump on out there one day after work!

How's the state ramp with the water levels or when does lees open up? I tried using the state ramp in early October and couldn't get it off the trailer with the water levels. By the way sounds like an awesome day for you guys! Keep it up!

It is at the same level as it was around thanksgiving. You can change the date range on the gauge history to a max of 120 days

sounds like a lotta fun, I look forward to the shallow perch bite every year, and seems like its in full swing right about now. BTW Lees opens in 2 weeks its usually mid march so wont be long to get the bigger boats in. Herring traps go in first of april too
