Well the ice is all but gone in most areas of most lakes already. Although I did see some psycho ice fishing by River stix yesterday...open water on 3 sides of him, honeycombed ice...good idea haha.

Anyway after going out with Lou for some lakers Saturday, headed out Sunday with Justin for some ll Sally action, but couldn't get on any big ones. We had some follows and nippers that didn't hook up and could only get some small ones. Then the wind blew the crap out of us till I went through both batteries.

I'll see you ice lovers out there on open water soon I hope after you have an ice fishing funeral service or whatever haha.

Here's a little nj Sally with a mouthful of silver surfer fly.

I'll admit, I shed a tear pulling the clam out of my truck yesterday, but open water pike dried my tears.

Nice Sally, hope it's in a bait bucket with an aerator :).

Live bait is for ice fishing!

Unless you're targeting big pike.

Definitely great to get out and catch some landlocked salmon right here in NJ. This was my first Jersey salmon.

One of NJ's finest baitfish! They jump, they fight like hell and they're quite tasty! Glad we have the opportunity to catch LL's here in our little state! A big river Striper would inhale that tasty morsel without any trouble! Cool looking fish!:D
