First Day on the Ice

The temps this past week have made for some great ice fishing. Got a call from bigboy last night if I was down to hit the hardwater. Called up some tackle shops to see if there was any fishable ice and no one could tell us much. So we decided to leave around 9. We a arrived to a small group of guys already fishing. As soon as we got there some flags have been set off and fish were brought to the ice. Within 30 or so min I get a flag and pull out my first pike through the ice. I realase it and as im setting up my tipup bigboy yells "I got a flag". Slams the hook and another one on the ice. A nicer fish!! I ended up with 4 pike and a dart. And bigboy got 3 pike and a bass. Great first day on the ice!!! FISH ON!!!

Definitely wouldn't say safest ice in nj, definitely the safest bigget lake tho.

Great job guys. First ice is awesome there, another week or so it's gonna start slowing down as it does every year, get it while its good!

Nice catches! Have tentative plans for Sunday, but if we go, we're going to need a snow shovel. Snow makes it difficult to judge thickness...that lake can freeze unevenly, since some areas are more windblown.
