I'm planning to put a charter together for next year for tuna fishing in North Carolina, haven't fished there in almost 20 years. Who do you find to be the best/most aggressive charter captain on the Outer Banks?

Nags Head is probably the closest thing to a fishing town, Oregon Inlet is only a few miles down the road. There are also a couple marinas further south, Teach's Lair & Hatteras Harbor.
Sensation Sportfishing out of Moorehead NC! We always catch dbl the other boats when fishing with them. Good Luck

i do believe the canyon runner (site sponser) runs down south for the giant bluefins. reach out to them. they are one of the best around.

Reach out to John aka "Procastinator" He's a member here and has a boat down there. (I hope that's ok Gerry)
If he doesn't have what your looking for I'm sure he will point you in the right direction. He's a stand up guy! You can also do a google search with his user name and see his website.

In Nags Head there is Pirates Cove marina. Two good boats are the Obsession and the Country Girl. When down there eat at Tortuga's Lair. Good luck and hope you have a great time

Outer Banks is rather large area when you consider everything. There are many towns to catch a boat from and from my (limited) experience they seem to sort of work together on the bite. I'm sure there are some that work harder than others though....
Try to post what time of year you are heading down. Sometimes Moorehead City fishing is better than Oregon Inlet, or better deals on rental houses in Hatteras. Each spot adds/subtracts hours of travel time for your trip and each town has a personality of its own.
Good luck and have fun!

I'm leaning toward fall, we've always done good then. I know spring CAN be better, but can't swing it then. Used to make this trip pretty often in the 80s & 90s. I'll probably rent a vacation house for a few days and get the "off-season" rate.

Not really committed to any town. The plan is to rent a vacation house for a couple days, and clean the fish there.

Overall hatters is my favorite place versus Oregon. But the tuna can be better up out of Oregon. I like creature in hatteras. Call hatteras harbor.

There was mention of Teach's Lair marina. Fished out of there a few years ago. Quick access to ocean and fishing grounds located south on Hatteras. Lodging everywhere. Nice restaurant at dock. They can match you up for a paired charter if you don't have enough on your own and quite a few boats to charter there yourself. Great Tuna/Grouper and Mahi fishing when we went. Chartered the Fin Seeker with Captain Bob.

FYI - Steve Jones doesn't have the Chaser any more, he splits an inshore skiff with his brother as of last year.
Lot's of good captains down there, look into Kenny Koci out of Teach's Lair, he has a new boat. He does overnights, specializes in jigging and just set the state record for White Marlin. If fishing is slow, he will drop down to the bottom for tiles and grouper. he will bring you home with fish.

I 2nd the recommendation for Kenny Koci. And a fun guy to boot. He also holds the state record for golden tiles and if I'm not mistaken, blackfin.

My dad and I fished on the BI-OP-SEA out of Oregon Inlet this September. I was very impressed. We had 7 white marlin a blue marlin and limits of mahi. They fish out of Oregon Inlet. Young capt. and crew, but excellent. The other boat out of OI that gets a ton of respect is the Pelican. The Legacy is also good another young guy his grandad is Omie Tillet....of Sam & Omies fame so alot of history there... I really like the boats out of Oregon Inlet .... probably harder to find a bad one then look for a good one. they seem to work really close and help each other.
