Took a 3 day trip with my son up to Lake George NY a few weeks back. Fished from my tin boat, marked tons of suspended fish, tried trolling flies, lead core line, spoons, stick baits - - - nada, nothing!! Went back in, took a walk along the lake and saw lots of big landlocked salmon swimming around the shallow water. Caught one 20" Sunday night right at dusk, and my second cast Monday morning nailed a big one 26" on a size 14 Hellgrammite. Weather was great, beautiful out on the lake. Going back after ice out in the spring. Tried posting pictures but nothing is showing up

what part of the lake were you on? I go up there every year to Bolton landing, basin bay, never had any luck with the Lakers...was thinking of heading up in spring, too

Nice job gypsy. Sorry about nothe responding on 307. My week was slow fishing wise although I did catch my share. It's such an amazing fishery and has rebounded nicley. Small flies I used. Got some real tiny ones at the orvis outlet. Ones with yellow bounced off the bottom seemed to get there attention.
I'll be back up in April chasing up top lakers.

Bub..... LG lakers.. usually the third week in April they are up top and fishable.
Best time is the first full moon after ice out. This is when the smelt begin to run and the Lakers actively feed.
Good luck.

Dave maybe we can meet up in the spring up there, should have asked the guys at the new boat launch when they open up. The guys working there are really great, we talked for a long time, and I gave them some flies. They were fishing off the dock before work and had salmon working that area also. Yes the fishery really took off, first time I can remember anything like this fall. I met a retired fly tyer fishing there, he caught 18 this fall so far, he gave me some flies to copy, seems rusty brown and orange nympths. But spring is different, I've been tying trolling flies, with tandem hooks for the spring. Already reserved my camp site for August 6-20th, fun fishing that time of the year for bass.
