Anyone see those two idiots in the tin can getting blown off cong Saturday morning!? I was told it looked like me...no comment! If you clicked here thinking it was a post about birth control, I'm sorry for misleading you...although a fish did end up squirting a little spawn juice on me I think.

Ok I had to try on cong! my buddy doesn't get to fish that often anymore and he's wanted a Nice brid for a few seasons now...he just never gets out at the right times haha. To make a long story short, we made a valiant effort but after the wind picked up to a pretty stiff 25 mph and some constant gnarly gusts and we almost lost the anchor, we threw in the white towel.

Time for plan B...bow that is! We totally switched gears and did some run and gun stream troutin' in some spots I wasn't all tha familiar with and we were very pleasantly surprised with some beautiful fish! 3 of the 4 spots we hit in 2 hours or so had life.

I landed 4 bows, 3 of which were very nice! A 16", one just under 16" and a lengthy 17" beauty. Unfortunately my buddy didn't have the same luck only landing one small bow, a chub, and a gill, but he was still pretty happy to be fishing and witnessing what can lurk in our skinny nj streams!

Lures didn't seem to get any attention so I did have to use a secret bait...I'm not at liberty to say, but I'll give you guys a hint...its jigman's very favorite pizza topping!! And no it's not pepperoni...or is it!?

Nice looking trout, surprised you let a little wind bother you, as long as the white caps aren't breaking over the side of the boat you should have stayed:eek:

That wind sounded like a freight train and was roaring all day long.
Flirted with the idea of taking the boat out but when I drove across Brady Bridge the lake looked like a washing machine. I did manage to get out yesterday though.

Good job on making lemonade out of those lemons!!!

those empty liver containers make great bailing tools, but that gets old after an hour or so!

One of the most beautiful fish there is. You certainly give it your all, I give you credit my friend! BUT Saturday must have been borderline violent on Hopatcong, no fish is worth losing your life over. Be safe out there. Glad we didn't have that wind during our night trip earlier this summer otherwise not sure we would've made it back to the launch! Glad to see plan B worked to perfection, nice looking fish in some very skinny water. There's no better time of year than the Fall to be out on the water and to land a few nice bows man it doesn't get much better than that!

LMAO, none needed man! At least you made it back alright. What's the waves situation there at its worst, as far as how high do they crest at I guess? I probly woulda chit my pants is why I ask.
Anyway, definitely a nice job with the plan B. I've only targeted trout in the Adirondacks, but definitely have been considering doing it locally. Some healthy looking fish from smaller, off the path waters is definitely intriguing with pics like these & the recent posts.

Nice plan B!

Not too bad for a plan B !!! As the water gets even cooler on the big lake the hybrids may slow down but the walleye fishing will pick up ! ;)

Chris, All I can say is your nutz brotha, I had the same kinda situation on Saturday Morning, my wife always fishes with me, but she has been crazy busy for like the last month, and finally she was able to go Saturday. I told her don't worry, wind doeskin bother me, I will make it work. Well, we got to Manasquan Res. when the gates opened, drove around to the ramp to launch, and WOW, the flag was about ripping off the pole, and when we looked out, the water looked like the bay, with about 1-2' white caps covering the entire lake. We both looked at each other, and just laughed and kept driving, I told her we would go hit Stone tavern, and that we could most likley find some cover there from the wind.....NOT...LOL. We ended up heading home, she got some stuff done that she had to do and I worked on the boat all day on some stuff that needed to be done that should have been done a while ago, but I put off, cause I'm always fishing...LOL (never mind the yard work that I haven't done in god knows how long) All I can say, is your crazy my friend for heading out in that crap, especially at Cong. Glad you guy's stayed safe.
