Hey Everyone,
I'm planning to go fishing this Saturday and Sunday.
I was planning to go to a different spot from my local ponds/ rivers.
My Idea was to fish one of the following in no particular order:
1. Spruce Run
2. Round Valley
3. Merrill Creek
Please keep this in mind I am 100% a shore fisherman. I do not own a boat and don't plan on renting one. Is shore fishing at any of these locations worth it?
At this time of year which one is the best for shore fishing?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions !

Well you can literally access pretty much the entire shore of spruce and rvr right now I think so that'll give you a good chance.

Plenty of shoreline at all 3 spots, let us know how you did.

What are u trying to fish for? Remember in the fall most of the fish move off into deeper water so its kinda tuff formsome species. Id say rvr is ur best bet cause the trout move shallower as it cools off. Powerbait and shiners work well there

Thanks a lot for the suggestions I am probably going to check out both places since they are so close to each other.

I don't have any recent info but November is historically good for shore fishing for rainbows at RVR.

Any recommendations of what lures to use at RV?

Live bait or Powerbait would be the best bet.
Stop at Behr's on Rt 22. They'll point you in the right direction.

I heard from several different guys on wednesday that there were trout close to the shore off to the left of the boat launch at Merrill. They were eating bugs on top.

This November has been historically warm, so the action won't likely kick into gear until after Thanksgiving.

I just got back from fishing. First I want to say thank you all for the suggestions.
Woke up 4:45 in the AM at some breakfast and drove the 40 minute drive to RV. was there until about 8:00 AM. Was a bit breezy. had a few bass follow my lures but none commit to it.
After RV I drove out to Spruce run saw a few large fish jump after bait fish. After about 30 minutes of fishing my brother caught a 6 inch bass (half the size of his KVD square bill.) fished for another hour with nothing else biting.
After that drove to the raritan. fished for about 30 minutes there with only a sunfish landed on a mepps spinner.
Not a great day of fishing, but was still fun to be out there.
Next time I will try some live bait
