Lard Almighty

Met up with my buddies Mike and Joe at the ramp, and we were on the water in Mike's boat by 3:30. Mike doesn't have a depth finder or graph on his rig, so we old-schooled it to find the offshore structure, with nothing but a lake map and our eyeballs. Nothing doing until about an hour in, when we saw a bunch of seagulls diving on bait. We headed to the spot as fast as we could, but a trolling motor into a headwind makes for slow travel, and the birds were gone by the time we got there. We tossed a few casts anyway, and Mike's spinnerbait gets slammed by a nice bass. That would prove to be the only fish of the day, as we spent the rest of the afternoon getting blown across the lake and numbing our fingers. Mike and Joe both liked the place though, so the three of us will likely hit it again someday.
