Just back from another great trip. Out to the red hot Hudson again-started off pot-hoping with Mahi on each stop-not great #'s but with all the pressure on 'em throughout the season, it's a wonder there's any left--enough said...Started a drift in higher than predicted wind forecast which was non-productive..Ran a bit and set up on the hook with, I think, nothing in the box...re-anchored in another location in sight of a sponsor & non-sponsor PB and there we stayed in 72-73* nice blue water...A slow but steady night bite starting @ 9 PM on YFT--second hook-up Charlie Tuna with a 150* eye ball, very nice!!! At 4:30AM, the birds came on and that bite lasted into mid-morning. All the Y's & L's were around 50-60* with a very few exceptions. Had the occasional blue devil and at times had up to 6 hook-ups on YFT & double & triples on LFT. Today the wind moderated and seas lessened and with the bite turned off, Capt. Bob made a 10 mile run for some wreck fishing...Had some Pollack and I don't know what else--at least no Bluefish...Made the dock at about 6:30 tonight with a bunch of tired but happy guys...Not much life except for a few squid, a Mola-Mola and the stray bit of weed...
Fish totals: 75 tuna--75-25% (ratio Y's to L's), 1 rat swordy released, several mahi (4-10#), tuna included that BE and an Allison(120#)...
As always, cudos to the entire crew, Capt. Bob, mates Todd(2nd Capt.), Alex, Chris & Zach for their expert service & friendly inter-action with the patrons...
