In my internet travels I found a repository of historic imagery, and thought you guys might enjoy some old photos of the Raritan River, many of which are over 100 years old! Below are some of the photos I found.

1. The old wooden (!) railroad bridge in New Brunswick, c. 1860. The bridge was destroyed by a fire in 1878.

2. The current New Brunswick railroad bridge, shortly after its opening in 1903. The bridge cost $2M to build, and 12 workers were killed during its construction (this was well before OSHA).

3. The Nevius Street bridge in Raritan, c. 1900. This photo looks like it could have been taken just a few years ago.

4. The bridge over the North Branch at Klines Mill Road, c. 1909. Some historical records date Klines Mill back to as early as 1747!

5. The confluence of the North Branch and the Lamington, c. 1910.

6. The South Branch in Califon, c. 1912.

7. The North Branch in Bedminster near River Road, c. 1917.

8. The old Far Hills bridge over the North Branch, c. 1910.

9. The new (current) Far Hills bridge on Route 202, during its construction in 1922.
