Against my better judgement, I went out searching for eyes during our the gigantic full moon. The bite leading up to the moon sucked royally, but I couldn't resist the punishment lol. Repeated skunkings are like scabs... you pick and pull at them and eventually rip them off even though you know you shouldn't hahaha...gross.
Anyyyyyy who... got to a bend in the river around midnight. Fished till 3 am. Switched things up a tad this time. Found a relax bait in my bag--the last one I have that was given to me by Skunk last summer in the 3" variety. Put it on a 1/8 Oz jig head and it produced. Nailed 2 19"ish eyes rather quickly with it. After an hour and a half lull I switched to the magic lure and had a 21" commit immediately. My first RR walleye limit! All were released though. Looking forward to fall...pics below. Vampire out!

Good fish Jigman! All perfect sized fish as well. That's a tasty limit right there but I'm glad you released them. Way to shake off the big STINKER!:D

I floated all around Monks under that big 'ol moon with only a dink largemouth to show for it. Spooky moon when the fog lifted up off the lake and nobody else around, I loved it...except for the lack of fish. Every time I see you guys put up a post like this, it gives me the itch and I get it in my head that my first walleye is out there waiting for me. Thanks guys! Seriously, good fish Jigman, not the ideal conditions to nail them in.

You only caught those fish because I wasn't there. :D You know who started that Skunk run for you. That'll teach you to invite me along to one of your night time adventures. Sorry it took so long for you to wash it off! HAHA!
Nice job my man...way to not give up the fight!

Thanks guys. Hoping it only gets better. The river seems healthy with eyes. The gross amount of bait I was seeing seemed to have dissipated. I also dropped my fluoro leader down from 15 to 8 lb test. That could've helped. And less bait could've made the fish more optimistic feeders. All fish taken in a foot of water or less too. Crazy how they stage at night in the river!
And rob, more relax baits please! Lol...

Where did the walleyes in the r r come from? I don't see that the state did any stocking there.

D & R canal by Bulls island on the big d. Nature finds a way... Just like the flatheads in the raritan. They come from the big d. One decent hurricane or tropical storm merges the canal and the rivers. Water recedes, fish are relocated. People on this board get hybrids in the Raritan and I've heard of them being caught in the canal. Same goes for eyes from south of Ewing all the way north. Not many places for them to emerge from aside from spruce (hybrids) and the big d(eyes, flats). You'd be astonished at the displacement of species during a major flood. I also would love to see them stock the raritan with eyes to keep populations thriving!

Thanks for clarifying that jigman. I was looking at the map on my phone trying to figure it out until my eyes were tearing. Figured it was easier to ask. Good luck. (Not that it looks like you need any)

I think this sounds interesting. I sure am a big fan of certain plastics. Been doing well with them recently. Late November sounds good to me if I could please get in on this RANDOM BEATING!!!:D

LH late November...plastics...I'd be game. I can supply a boat with room for two for those who don't got one. Plus I have about a hundred pounds of plastics I can donate to the cause! So I'm not looking to scam someone else's baits or anything...but I will have cash on hand just in case! :D
Sounds like a good theme for a meet and greet. What say you my fisher friends...do we have a date in mind?
