Alright the time has come yet once again guys, some of you know a few fish have been caught in the river and the lake is starting to heat up....pretty much same thing as last year camp out at seths cabin,tents in the field he does have a toilet but no shower nothing fancy just a place to lay your head instead payin cash for a hotel room. Oct 1-4 i will be up there 7 am that thursday anyone comin up early can tag along. Food wise we will be bbq evrey night and campfire cooking.on the fishing end of this we are gonna fish some of me and eddie spots which dont get over crowded....if you wish to fish your own spots on the river instesd totally cool. Should be a good run and def will be a good time anyone with question pm me or eddie please thanks dudes,

Looks like I'll be missing the fun again. My crew and I will be hitting town the morning of the 4th for our usual weeklong foray.
If the lake reports are to be believed it does indeed look to be a much better year than last. Better numbers, fair numbers of 3 y/o fish and already showing staging of decent numbers of steel and browns. The coho as we know, are often difficult to predict since they travel so quickly compared to the other species.

i was up yesterday. started in oz and didnt see anything, shot over to SR and fished low for a little bit and didnt see anything, then i moved up a bit and saw a few on stringers, i hooked one and lost it after it ran about 100yards up some rapids. saw two others get hooked. it was nice salmon fishing in shorts lol

I agree it was nice to be able to stay in water without waders.

Fished from Saturday to Monday and did not get anything at all.

In all honesty saw only on fish in a river the whole time but they were there. Have seen multiple hook ups with some fish being land but I got to say all were on a smaller size.

Best area was Jefferson with multiple hooks up throughout the day and being best in the morning.

Douglaston had some hook ups as well but all on the low side.

Water temperature was still hovering a bit below 70 with Lake Ontario being at 74.

Fished mostly Jefferson area in morning and in afternoon was moving to Altmar area.

I stopped by DSR to see how everyone was doing there but did not fished it.

Also tried my luck at route 3 bridge for the fun of it but I did not have any hook ups at all.

Moved around Ontario shoreline looking for access points with some help from the locals to see if I can get into some fish with no luck though.

Regardless was a great weekend out cant wait to head out again.

Snagged a skunk today. Fished the whole river and only saw one fish. All the fish from last week lined the banks dead, water was hot. Nothing in oz either.

Gonna be tough findin steel and browns now doubt any of them in the river now water way too warm they usually wont come in til cools off and as soon as they do ill be in that white water waiting for em lol!

You and me both. Have seen a few years when they ran and got caught in the low water high temperature and many died. The year flows didn't exceed 185 cfs for most of the fall it was sad to see how many trout died. We need rain and lower temperatures soon. Salmon will run eventually whether the water rises or not and trout will follow especially when the salmon start dropping their eggs.

3) Dress warm as you will all mostly be camping outside, if anyone has a camper,travel trailer feel free to bring it.
4)My camp does not have a shower or a well, I do have a proper toilet.
5)Electric is by generator, if you want to bring your own generator feel free.
6)Firewood, charcoal, bottled gallons of water will be needed.

I am leaving on Friday night so will be there around 3-4am on Saturday.

Probably will hit up Fat Nancy's at 5 am and then on to the river we go, so wont get to the camp until we are done. Depending on the weather will choose the hole accordingly but most likely will be saving a spot for all of you. Somebody promised to teach me a thing or two about steelhead fishing so , we will see how it goes.

Right now I have 4 ppl for sure that will be coming down and staying overnight.

Food, drink and wood we will bring to keep all warm and happy.

Pre Salmon/Steelhead anxiety is starting to set in. If I don't get up there soon I'm going to FLIP OUT! I can hear the bearings on people's reels burning up already. Exploding rods all over the place. People swimming 200 yards downstream to land a 15lb Chromer. Cohos bolting upstream at 30 mph flipping anglers the bird. Massive Kings!!! FISH ON, FISH OFF!!!KINGS, CHROME, BROWNS and BOWS, OH MY!!!!

Have couple of buddies on rt 3 bridge right now and they are reporting fish moving in in small schools.

Multiple hook ups around the bridge area but only 3 pulled out and not by them.

With temperatures dropping in we should be in for some good fishing next weekend boys.

Looks like some rain is on the way and starting shortly up in TROPHY SALMON COUNTRY. Actually, looks to be a really good trip with perfect weather and cool temps at night, great for sleeping. To the guys that are camping! Make sure your waterproof in every way possible. I've been camping over 1000 times in my life and camping with everything soaking wet is not the way to go. Make sure you have your rain gear ready. Inspect that tent and make sure it's waterproof. Dry, dry, dry. Maybe bring an extra tarp or 2 if you have them handy. Last year we got blasted with sideways rain and wind the first night. The rain was so strong that every angler in a tent woke up pretty soggy. It's all good though! This rain is going to give us a big push of fish! Let's get at em fellas!!! Oh, and don't forget to take pictures for our final report when we get back. Pics or it didn't happen, lol! Ok guys! Again the trip looks like it might get a little soggy. Ken is bringing a pop up gazebo to keep us dry. If anyone else has one please bring it. I looked for tent poles today but apparently there a thing of the past. Also, bring some gallons of water for the bathroom. We need it to flush!!! Thanx guys!!!

I also have a tarp and some old poles to build an old fashioned tarp shelter...from before the EZ Up days! If I can find 'em I'll bring 'em just in case no one has another pop up type.

For "flushing" water I got a 3 gallon and 5 gallon bucket already filled and ready to go. If you got a 5 gallon bucket with a lid fill it and bring it. And if you don't...then REALLY???...Why Not? How can you survive without at least one 5 gallon bucket??? :D

You can find all the info you need at www.dec.ny.gov. There should be a map. All access points are very easy to get to on the SR! Good luck dude!

I left early yesterday after messing up my knee after falling in. Eddie sent me a text last night saying they got zero fish.

Hopefully they got into some today. I didn't get up till Thursday night, bounced around SR Friday morning, hooked a couple in town, only landed one. Fished oz Saturday and hooked a few salmon but they all got off, caught my first freshwater drum though. Went to SR after lunch and it was skunkfest. Hit up the magic hour off the high wall in Oz, hooked a couple kings but lost em, picked up a couple cats too. This morning it was fish on fish off at the dam in oz, landed one and traded it in for smoked at larrys. Wasn't the most productive trip but I'm happy. COMING UP!!!!!!!!!
