decided to take a break from the bigger species and do some good old fashioned ultra light crappie sling shotting. We didn't get our usual numbers and had more by species interference than usual, but we did ok. The crappie seemed picky on the jigs, couldn't really tell you why. Maybe post frontal conditions.

Anyway, 2 of us managed 36 fish, a sizable chunk of 9" sunfish, a small bass and some ultra light unfriendly pickerel. The rest crappies, ranging from a few small ones to a good amount in he 10-12.5" range but only a few nice slabs. A decent haul, but not near what we are accustomed to for a summer jig bite. 3" Twister ails did the damage color didn't seem to matter much. Here's my biggest at just barely shy of 14".

If you're sitting home because of the summer sun and 'dog days of summer', buy a ridiculous hat and get out to enjoy the fishing!

This time, all crappie released, but they better watch out in the winter! Though luckily for them I prefer perch when it comes to food haha. Switched back to bigger species today and got skunked...guess I was due!
