I am proud to announce Eastmans 1st Whiting & Ling Marathon on Friday 10/16 On The 90 Foot Super Cruiser Lady Merlee Ann

VERY IMPORTANT INFO

The Marathon Charter departs at 6 AM and returns between 4 and 6 PM

ALL Bait and tackle provided

Expect to be fishing from 250 feet to as much as 375 feet

Expect to catch MOSTLY Whiting but their will be plenty of ling also

Payment will be made to Eastmans

$ 100 We will sail with a minimum of 20 plus me and a maximum of 25 plus me

I am hopeful for a HUGE turn out from Njfishing.com members in support for Eastmans being an advertiser here

* Do not bring heavy Cod type equipment

Bring the lightest rods you have that can handle up to 16 ounces of lead

Will be fishing mostly 10 to 12 ounce sinkers

Once trip is sold out we will start a Food list

Instead of risking future aggrivation this trip will now be on the 42 foot Annie B Six Pack

Average Whiting catches this season are 50 to 75 per person

Fare for 6 Pack is $ 130 per Angler for a 10 to 12 hour trip.

One Other Change

Captain Nate Will Also Put Out A Live Whiting or Live Pollack for Giant Tuna on this trip as we did last year in October

We came within 50 feet of landing an estimated 600 Lb fish last season

Here is the deal with the Tuna

If a Giant is landed (73 inches or bigger) it belongs to the boat but we get a FREE trip

If A Tuna under 73 inches is landed it belongs to us and will be divided equally

Last year there were 2 Landed on 6 packs in the fall so now there is a NEW dimension to this trip

Usually we get $ 150 for the fall 6 packs because of the possibility of catching a Giant Bluefin BUT because this is the first one I am doing on NJ Fishing the fare is $ 130

If we sell this out quick I will also book Thursday and offer spots to those going Friday spots first for Thursday

$100 to fish the big boat with 20 people is a steal! I've whiting fished with Marc and Eastman's several times now and its an amazing fishery. It's nonstop action with some serious kings. I loaded up a friends smoker with whiting afterwards. Delicious.

I live in Philadelphia and make at least 6 trips up a year, I am booked the week before 10/8 as well as 12/23 and I am trying to get off work for this trip as well. Its an easy 5 1/2 - 6 hour run to New Hampshire's coast .
Lots of reasonable hotels this time of year and some incredible fishing.
Add in the awesome seafood restaurants and it makes a great weekend.
If you can hit the open boat the day before for added fishing time.

PS take the wives as there is a big outlet just across the Maine line she can hit if she does not fish:D only 20 min away and a drive up the. 1A is something to see.

NH is beautiful in Oct and the fishing is at its best.

This is the trip I did last year when we hooked up the Bluefin. Lost the fish after 1.5 hours but ended up with about 100 whiting and load of ling. I am on three trips on both sides of this weekend so I cant do this one. Maybe I will get another shot at that tuna this year. I missed the run here in NJ by about 5 years as I was growing up but remember every Italian in my town salivating of stories of garbage cans full of whiting. For now I drive to NH for them but hope they find there was south in the next few years.

What happens if a trip is cancelled because of weather ?

First of all because most people travel a long distance we always try to make the call the day before in the morning. On occasion we will wait for the afternoon forecast

Regardless if Eastman collects the $$$$ or I do refunds are ALWAYS sent out within 72 hours of a cancelled trip

I have never used grill for breakfast usually for Burgers and Dogs but you can use grill for whatever you want

Please Take My Advice

This is not the Whiting Fishing you remember from 20 to 30 years ago

We are fishing anywhere from 275 feet to 350 feet of water

DO NOT FISH MONO

Please bring as light a rod as you have that can handle 10 to 16 ounces of lead.

Not telling anyone what to do but if you take my advice you will do SIGNIFICANTLY better

Wow, so proud of you for correctly spelling "significantly". Do me a favor, since this is trip is on my birthday, make the fares proud and anchor on the rocks for some cusk. They've got more than enough ling in Jersey, but they seldom see these beautiful and tasty creatures.

Unfortunately we will be staying off the rocks and hard bottom. Why ?

There are loads of Cod on that bottom and since we are not allowed to retain any why bother.

Our biggest challenge this past Thursday was too many Cod and Haddock. We did manage a respectable catch of Whiting as well.

We will be targeting Whiting and Ling all day but if we have enough towards the end of the day we might make a Pollack drop

Had the pleasure of sailing on a sponsor boat Lady Merilee out of Eastmans Fishing Sea Brook, NH on Friday 10/16. Trip was put together by Site member Marc Schloss, and he did a great job.

There were 21 of us on a 95' boat, plenty of room. Boat was top shelf as was the Capt and the Deckhands. Conditions were a tad sporty for most of the day, making not ideal fishing conditions, but we still did good. Wind was honking at 35 at one point, but by the end of the day she laid down nice.

Started the morning off catching Macks for bait and table, right outside the inlet, in about 30 minutes we had all we needed and headed to the grounds.

Steady pick of Whiting and Ling all daym my group averaged 35-40 Whiting per man. Catch numerous Cod and Haddock that had to go back, made a couple Pollack drops, ya had to weed through shorts, but nice fish were mixed in.

We did a community food for the trip and you had all you wanted: Bagels, Donuts, Pastries, Hot Dogs Hamburgers, Spaghetti/Meatball, Lasagna, Baked Beans, Hot Pretzels, Chip, d, water and Gatorade. No one went hungry .

Great group on the boat, made several new friends. Big Kudos to Marc for a well planned event.

Marc and 5 others went on a 6 pack out of Eastmans the day before and slammed the Whiting and Pollock, they averaged 50+ Whiting a man and filled up with Pollack to 10 lbs.

Great time by all in my group.We will be back.

First I am sorry for delay in posting

I want to thank all the NJ members who traveled so far to fish on my first NJ fishing group charter

Here is my report

We started by stopping 15 minutes from the dock and loading up on Boston Macks

We use them for Whiting Bait. Some guys kept them to take home

As far as the fishing results I was dissapointed. I realize some of you may think 20 to 30 Whiting per person is a good day compared to catching zero Whiting in NJ for many years but just the day before we had 350 Whiting for 6 anglers. The area we are currently fishing is a steep ledge that starts at 220 feet and drops to 450 feet. With the wind blowing as much as 30 to 40 it was very difficult to anchor up and stay where we wanted to be. We had a decent pick most of the day. Anytime we fell less than 300 feet of water it was Haddock galore. Which are out of season till 11/1
