View Full Version : How to Launch Boat at Night?

I was thinking about going out weakfishing tonight for the first time in ages. I was going to get on the water around 8 or 9pm. However, the boat ramps are probably closed at that time. I usually launch out of keyport to fish RB. So for you night time fishermen, how do you launch a boat at night?? Is it free at night or something? I know there are two keyport ramps, so if anybody has experience with this, it would help me out a lot.

I would call keyport marine basin and ask them if you can pay ahead with a cc.

Leonardo is a little far from where i'm fishing in the back. Keyport would be easiest. Somebody told me that the keyport public ramp (the one by the sailboats) is free at night, but they could be full of it.

Keyport should be free after hours. Good luck getting the boat off the trailer with this moon tide. Hope your truck has a snorkel

Yeah i just saw that it's gonna be a moon tide at that time. Taking it out shouldn't be a problem, but putting it in the water will be interesting. It's only a 17 foot boat, so hopefully we don't have any trouble. I figured the ramp was free after hours, just wanted to make sure.

Just for anybody who was wondering, i went to the keyport ramp next to Captain John's PB around 8pm and it was no problem. Well putting it in was tough at dead low tide, but we had no issues with having to pay for the ramp. Nobody was there, so it was free, no problems. Fishing sucked. Fished from about 8:30-midnight drifting sandworms for weakfish in the usual spots. Got one very short fluke and a short striper that gave me a nice fight on light gear. It's still a little early for weakfish, but i thought i'd at least get one. I'll try again next week.

I asked the guys at Keyport Marina, and they said pay when you get back,
"most people are honest" ???
