Bushwhacked a short section of the PR today. Only had about an hour or so but caught three largies and a rare smallie. All fat and healthy. Unusual to catch a smallie that far upriver where its sticks and mud. No signs of pike. Included a picture of my boots in the water to show how low and clear the river was. I was standing mid-river(where its 60 feet wide) where it was all of 10" deep. Its about as low as I've ever seen it. Humidity was back today and so were the mosquitoes.

That river isn't so bad after all. Just has a bad rap with the muddy silty bottom and floods way to easy. Nice BASS!

If Andy S wants some tires, P has quite a few. With the clear water, u can see all kinds of junk in there - including propane tanks, a large dumpster and even a car axle. Despite this, it is a river chock full of life. More crayfish then you can count and schools of baitfish in the form of white suckers, fallfish, shiners and fathead minnows. No wonder every bass I get looks like its about to explode. It also explains all the wildlife around there. Great Blue Herons, Common(white) Egrets, Raccoons, Mink, Cormorants and Kingfishers. Tracks of animals I have no idea what they are. River really draws in the animals. Case in point was a furry critter running out onto a large fallen tree that spanned almost the entire river. He just ran up it, sat down and watched me for a few seconds before running off. Was a Red Fox.
That said, we need rain in a bad way if only to spread fish out. Not flooding just get it back up a foot or two.

Only thing I've actually landed out of that river was catfish. Couldn't hook a pike, yet. Had plenty of takes that I watched, but, nada. I'm stuck on the bank and the stretch where I fish is a bit tough as far as access, but, I have scoped a few great looking sections, if I had a boat or a yak. Good to see this backyard water producing some nice fish. Great catches.
